Arsenal star facing race against time to make Champions League final as injury blows add up

Jurrien Timber is facing a race against a time to be fit for the Champions League final. Timber is a major injury worry for the Gunners because the right back has not played since March 14 because of a groin injury. There have been fears that Timber would not play again this season which would also be a huge blow for his chances of being ready for the Holland World Cup squad. Arsenal now also face a further worry over Ben White who suffered a suspected knee ligament injury at West Ham on Sunday. White fears a lay-off with Arsenal sweating in the severity of his injury as they have two Premier League games - Burnley and Crystal Palace - and also the Champions League final on May 30. That leaves the Gunners desperately short of options at right back and Timber is not giving up hope. Timber, 24, is hoping to at least make a push to see if he can train this week and then step up to potentially return for the Champions League final. But there is no guarantee that Timber stepping up training will work because he has had previous attempts which have not worked. This week will be make or break for his hopes of a return rather than the possibility of surgery and missing the World Cup. Arsenal face Paris Saint Germain in the final and the potential threat of Georgia winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who is regarded as one of the best players in the world . Timber’s absence has been a huge blow for Arsenal because he has been one of the standout full backs in the Premier League this season. They also suffered another blow at West Ham because Riccardo Calafiori went off injured at half time. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that both Timber and Mikel Merino - who underwent surgery on his foot four months ago - face a battle to prove their fitness for the final and also for the World Cup.
