Parents have been promised their money will be refunded, although they have been told it could take several weeks. One parent, who did not want to be identified, said: "My son is 13 and was due to go on this trip - I'm owed more than £2,200. "This is such a shame for all the kids, mine is absolutely devastated. As recently as February, we were told this trip was going ahead."Another said: "I spent 100 hours of my own time fundraising - it's really disappointing and frustrating to say the least. I just can't believe how this has happened."'Committed to covering missing funds'The BBC has seen a letter to parents, in which scout leaders said they believed money was taken "over an extended period of time" from a bank account that was "set up specifically for trips".
