Published: 09:39, 10 August 2026 | Updated: 09:42, 10 August 2026 The partner of an NDIS boss who allegedly kidnapped an intruder she found in her shed before taking a baseball bat to his mates has also been charged - but he walked out of court while she was held in jail. Army veteran Guy Joel Westgate, 53, was charged over his role in the alleged attack which police believe occurred when his partner Kylee Barbette Robinson allegedly found a thief in their Raymond Terrace shed on August 2. Police allege Robinson, 52, attacked the man with a baseball bat before tying him up by the neck with a padlock and chain and ordering him to take her to other items that had already been allegedly stolen from her. Last week, a bail court heard the man took her to a homeless camp in nearby Boomerang Park, where she then allegedly assaulted two other men with a baseball bat and smashed up a car. A 44-year-old man was treated by paramedics for facial injuries before being taken to Maitland Hospital for further treatment. Police believe Westgate was with Robinson when she bashed the intruder and forced him to walk her to the park. On Thursday, Westgate was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and kidnapping with intent to commit an indictable offence after presenting to Raymond Terrace Police Station. He was later granted bail with a $10,000 surety condition, unlike Robinson, whose bail application was refused. Army veteran Guy Joel Westgate, 53, was arrested three days after his partner Kylee Robinson (below) was charged with the alleged assault and kidnap of an intruder in their shed Kylee Barbette Robinson, 52, remains behind bars after her bail was denied. She is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, kidnapping with intent to cause actual bodily harm and being armed with intent to commit an offence The couple bought the two-bedroom weatherboard home in 2024 The Daily Mail understands the home where the alleged attack began is a two-bedroom weatherboard cottage that has been the scene of multiple 'suspicious' fires over the past six months. The house, which is just metres away from Boomerang Park where the incident is alleged to have continued, was set on fire in February and again in March. The last reported incident was around 3am on March 4 when five crews were called out following reports of a structure fire at the unattended home. 'We quickly arrived to find a dwelling with smoke issuing,' a statement from the NSW RFS Raymond Terrace Brigade said. 'Crews quickly got to work with crews from Raymond Terrace Fire and Rescue to extinguish the fire and were joined by multiple other Fire and Rescue NSW crews.' At the time, police said they were treating the fire as suspicious. A neighbour told the Daily Mail they were shocked to hear about the charges laid against the couple and confirmed they heard nothing on the night of the alleged attack. The neighbour said the couple, who weren't living at the home, were known to visit often to check on the property. The couple, who bought the single-level property in 2024, also founded an NDIS business that year. She allegedly tied the man up and forced him to take her to Boomerang Park (pictured) which is located just metres away from the shed The house is believed to have been the scene of two 'suspicious' fires over the past six months (pictured fire crews extinguishing a fire at the home on March 4) Alongside 'operations manager' Robinson, Westgate was the director of the business and worked to connect NDIS participants with their communities across the Newcastle and Hunter region. According to a now-deleted profile on their website, Westgate said he was passionate about working with his clients to make sure they receive the 'right help at the right time.' 'My background is diverse and includes time in the Australian Defence Force, the crane industry, and as a Postie. These experiences have helped shape my practical, people-first approach to support work,' he said. 'I’m currently completing a Certificate IV in Mental Health, which is deepening my understanding of the challenges faced by many of our participants.' While his employment status remains unknown, Westgate was last seen on the company's social media in September after taking his colleagues and clients to a clay pigeon shooting activity. According to his LinkedIn profile, Westgate began work as a combat engineer in the Australian Defence Force in the mid-late 1990s where he stayed for nearly a decade.  He then worked across various roles in the mining and construction industry before launching the NDIS service. Any trace of Westgate and Robinson's involvement in the business has recently been wiped from its website and social media platforms.  When asked about Robinson's employment status last week, a staff member declined to comment on the charges and told the Daily Mail: 'We all don't want to talk right now.' The couple will both front Newcastle Local Court on September 30.  They have not yet entered any pleas.  The Daily Mail has contacted Westgate's legal team and the NDIS for comment.  Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article.
