Anmol Pinky complains of ‘pressure to give false statements’, disputes official claim on arrest timing
KARACHI: While police on Saturday managed to secure a further six-day remand of Anmol Pinky in two cases, the suspected drug baroness contested the police’s claim that she was arrested on May 12 in Karachi, saying she had actually been picked up 22 days earlier in Lahore and was being pressured to give “false statements involving Banigala” — an Islamabad area known as the residence of former prime minister and incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan.
On Saturday, police produced the suspect, Pinky, before various courts for remand.

In an intense show of resistance and scuffle with policewomen and officials escorting her, Pinky, whose face was covered with a chador, shouted while unmasking her face and alleged that law-enforcement authorities had forced statements from her.
“They forced me to give false statements to say that I used to deliver items to a man in Banigala. These people picked me up from Lahore and brought me here 22 days ago,” she shouted while policemen tried to keep her silent and her face covered.
Says she was picked up in Lahore 22 days ago; magistrate extends police remand for six days
“Hum to doobay hain sanam….in sab ko lai doobay gain [we are drowning my love, and we will drag all of them down with us too]” was her poetic response to a journalist’s question about whether she wanted to share anything with the media.
On Saturday, the police brought the suspect before judicial magistrates of three districts, South, Central and Malir, in over 15 cases and sought her custody for further investigations.
The judicial magistrate (Central), Abdul Sattar, granted a six-day physical remand of the suspect in a case registered under the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act 2024 at the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police station last year. The magistrate in his order said that the suspect alleged maltreatment at the hands of police, but no apparent marks of violence were present. However, the magistrate directed the police to get her examined by a woman medico-legal officer and provide necessary treatment, if required.
According to SIU Investigation Officer Shaukat Ali, Pinky was wanted in a 2025 case after a delivery rider allegedly working for her was arrested in the Central District. Advocate Liaquat Ali Gabol appeared as the suspect’s counsel.
In the murder case lodged at Baghdadi police station, Judicial Magistrate (South) Murtaza granted a two-day physical remand.
The order stated that Pinky has been accused of employing several staff in her network, including riders, suppliers, dealers, manufacturers and managers, etc.
It also noted that the victim in the particular case died apparently due to the narcotics that allegedly belonged to the suspect’s brand.
It further said that since the offence was of a heinous nature, the probe was necessary for reaching a fair conclusion and required proper investigation.
A lawyer for the suspect opposed the police request and contended that the sticker with the name and brand of the accused had been pasted/manipulated upon the jar, which was allegedly recovered from the dead body of the deceased.
The lawyer further asserted that Pinky’s ex-husband, Rana Nasir, had divorced her and due to such separation, he had planned to implicate her in committing the alleged offence.
At her appearance before the judicial magistrate (South), Pinky reportedly started shouting, claiming that the police wanted to have her statement recorded under duress.
She claimed she was brought to Karachi after being arrested in Lahore 22 days ago and was tortured during custody. The suspect also termed cases registered against her as “false”.
At this, the judge assured her that “no one could harass” her in court and that she and her lawyer’s arguments would be heard in full.
The judicial magistrate (South) also sent the suspect to jail on judicial remand in over a dozen other cases related to narcotic substances and lodged at Garden, Gizri and Darakhshan police stations. A judicial magistrate (Malir) has also sent her to prison in a narcotics case lodged at Sachal police station.
Prior to one of her court appearances, Senior IO Darakhshan Maqbool said that the suspect would be presented in over 10 new cases and four old ones. He added that her custody will be sought as the police need to nab other suspects who were on the run.
The suspect was brought to court with her face covered and escorted by policewomen. She also complained before the court that her face should not be covered with a chador so that she could breathe properly. The court advised her to wear it so that no one would disturb her.
