Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor learned of his youngest daughter’s pregnancy through his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson , according to an inside source. Princess Eugenie announced that she and her husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their third child, with the baby due to arrive in summer. Eugenie made the announcement last week, with the Palace saying the King is ‘delighted’ over his niece’s happy news. But before the Royal Family at large found out about the pregnancy , Eugenie informed her closest family of the newest addition to their family. The princess told her sister Beatrice and her mother Fergie of the news, but left it to Sarah to relay the information to her father, former prince Andrew . A source told the Mail on Sunday : “Andrew found out that he was to be a grandpa again via Sarah.” The insider also claimed that Eugenie has not spoken to her disgraced father since he was stripped of his titles and forced to hand back his lease on the Royal Lodge in October last year. When it came to informing the King about her pregnancy, the source alleged that Eugenie was apprehensive about sharing her happy news as she was anxious how it would be received by the Royal Family, given the scandal still surrounding her parents over their involvement with Jeffrey Epstein . According to the Mail, Eugenie only decided to inform the monarch of her pregnancy after being urged by her cousin Zara Tindall, who persuaded her to write to the King. The source added that Eugenie did so via an Easter card accompanied by a carefully written letter sent to her uncle. “She and Jack were quite surprised by the warmth of the Palace response,” the insider claimed, who added that the King is reported to feel protectively towards his nieces. They added: “The couple had feared a frostier reception and had been contemplating making a media announcement of their own without the Palace being involved, but the King made contact and asked his officials to make a formal announcement.” The couple made the announcement on social media, sharing a photo of their sons August and Ernest looking down at an ultrasound of their new sibling alongside the caption: “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!” with several heart emojis. In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer. "August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news."
