Sean M. Haffey / Getty Images Share articleAnaheim Ducks right wing Troy Terry soon will require hip surgery, the team announced on Thursday, and Terry’s readiness for the start of the 2026-27 season remains unclear. An official timeline for his recovery will not be known until after the surgery. The Ducks said Terry is dealing with chronic hip impingement, an injury that he has managed for months. Throughout their playoff push and into the postseason, Terry often skipped practices and morning skates to receive treatment. The 28-year-old forward had three goals and eight assists in 12 playoff games as the Ducks advanced to the second round. It was his first playoff appearance and the team’s first since 2018. “It was kind of going on since January or something, so it’s just been kind of a fluid situation,” Terry said last week, after the Ducks’ season ended. “I give just a lot of credit to our medical staff and our doctors. Everyone’s dealing with stuff this time of year, so it’s just been a bit of a process. “Just trying to get the body ready each night was kind of the hardest part, honestly. But it was worth it this time of the year to be able to play in those games. Not that it’s fun dealing with that stuff, but it is fun to be in these type of games that you want to (play) your whole life. You’re going through stuff for a good reason.” Terry was limited to 61 games during the regular season, his lowest total over an 82-game NHL schedule since he became a regular with the Ducks in 2020-21. He finished with 19 goals and 38 assists, putting him second on a balanced Anaheim club in points per game (0.93) and fifth in total points (57). Terry wasn’t the only injured Ducks player in the postseason. Ryan Poehling did not play in Game 6 against the Vegas Golden Knights because of a concussion he incurred early in Game 5 when Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb drilled him with a late hit that earned a one-game suspension by the NHL. The Ducks said Poehling has been cleared of concussion-related symptoms. Cutter Gauthier said he played with a fracture of his L1 and L2 vertebrae in his back after being cross-checked during a March 30 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Gauthier, who led Anaheim with 41 goals, appeared in every playoff game and led the Ducks with 12 points. Defensemen Pavel Mintyukov (MCL sprain) and Drew Helleson (groin strain) also are expected to be ready for training camp in September. Ducks captain Radko Gudas, who will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, aggravated an ankle sprain in Game 1 of the first round against the Edmonton Oilers. Spot the pattern.
