He will take the stand for the prosecution as jurors hear the harrowing 911 call he made to police the night he discovered their children's bodies.  Clancy, who has pleaded not guilty, is on trial for strangling their kids – five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan – using exercise bands while her ex-husband collected takeout food in January 2023. The defense will argue that Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, is not criminally responsible for the killings as she suffered an acute episode of postpartum depression and psychosis at the time of their deaths. The Massachusetts mother had been prescribed thirteen different psychiatric medications in the months leading up to the tragedy.   Prosecutors argue the killings were deliberate and premeditated.  After the murders, Clancy allegedly attempted to take her own life by cutting her wrists and neck before jumping from the second-floor window of the family's Duxbury home. Clancy survived but was left paralyzed from the waist down and now uses a wheelchair. A jury is set to hear opening statements Monday in Clancy's murder trial, then her ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, is expected to take the stand. He is both a witness for the prosecution and the defense. He returned home and found his wife gravely injured outside as he returned home. While still on the phone to 911, Patrick rushed inside in a frantic search for their three young children, and found the unimaginable scene in the basement. However, the Microsoft employee is expected to testify in support of his ex-wife despite the killings and their divorce. The Daily Mail revealed that Patrick has since remarried and moved to New York City. Patrick's decision to testify in his wife's defense comes as he has also filed a wrongful death lawsuit accusing multiple doctors and healthcare providers of overmedicating his wife and causing her to spiral out of control. Plymouth District Attorney Tim Cruz - the man charging Clancy with murder - has just turned up at Plymouth Superior Court for the first day of Lindsay Clancy’s trial. Around 25 people are lining up outside - mainly members of the media, podcasters, expert witnesses as well as a handful of advocates for women suffering from postpartum mental illness. By contrast, there was only around 10 members of the media attending jury selection last week. 'The potential harmful and everlasting emotional impact to Mr. Clancy and his family of any public dissemination of such graphic and sensational evidence and exhibits related to his three children is immeasurable,' his attorney David Meier explained in the motion. 'Likewise, the disrespect for the dignity and memory of the three child victims that would inherently be occasioned by such dissemination speaks for itself.' Meier noted that Patrick is 'not seeking to close the courtroom.' 'Mr. Clancy seeks a narrowly circumscribed order limiting the recording, display, and disclosure by the media (or any other persons) of certain graphic and sensational items of evidence related to his three young children, which, if disseminated, would only serve to perpetuate the already severe emotional harm to Mr. Clancy and his family,' he wrote. The judge granted his request, so the evidence will be seen and heard in the court room, but not displayed on the live stream.
