American popstar left in tears over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding anniversary celebrations
An American popstar found herself moved to tears upon discovering that Meghan Markle had selected her iconic 1989 track Forever Your Girl for her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Harry.
Paula Abdul, 63, revealed her emotional response while attending the American Music Awards at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Monday, May 25.
Meghan had used the song as the soundtrack to an Instagram post marking her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Harry on May 19.
The post featured previously unseen photographs from the couple's 2018 nuptials, including an intimate black-and-white image captured in the cloisters of St George's Chapel, Windsor.
Speaking to People magazine, Mrs Abdul described her reaction upon seeing the Duchess's tribute.
"I pinched myself and I was like, 'This is awesome.' Well, it's like I said, you never know. Little gems and moments can come in and just bless your life," she said.
The singer, who rose to fame as an American Idol judge, admitted she was "tearful" when she spotted the post.
Mrs Abdul subsequently shared Meghan's content on her own Instagram Stories, writing: "So sweet to hear 'Forever Your Girl' over these beautiful memories. Wishing you both continued love, laughter and a very Happy Anniversary! XoP."

The former choreographer also reached out to Meghan personally following the anniversary tribute.
In a separate interview with E! News, Abdul explained: "I was in shock and I was so touched."
She emphasised her enduring gratitude for such moments throughout her career.
"I never take anything for granted with my career, I never have. And so, I'm always humbled to have little gems like that appear in my life. It's very touching," Mrs Abdul said.

The singer confirmed she had sent a direct message to the Duchess, telling the outlet: "I just texted her back, saying, 'What beautiful pictures and thank you so much for using my song.'"
Forever Your Girl originally appeared as the title track on Mrs Abdul's 1988 debut album before being released as a single the following year.
The track has experienced something of a renaissance in recent months, gaining renewed attention through TikTok and its inclusion in the film People We Meet on Vacation.
Mrs Abdul reflected on this unexpected revival, telling People: "I always say I never take anything in my career for granted, and the amount of pinch me moments and tears that come from my eyes, it still exists every day.
"And it started from the movie People We Meet on Vacation, and then everyone started doing TikToks."
Harry and Meghan's anniversary celebrations were kept more low-key this year, with the couple sharing a lemon and elderflower cake with their children, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, four, in their Montecito property.
