The family, from California, were viciously beaten in a brawl at the Kaanapali Alii resort in Hawaii.
Local officers responded to a disturbance involving roughly 30 people near the pool at the hotel in West Maui.
Seven family members ranging from ages 17 to 62 were allegedly attacked by a group of young people on July 17, at around 10pm.

"Haole" is a Hawaiian term for a a foreigner or an outsider, typically referring to someone who is white or not of Polynesian descent.
By the time officers arrived, 10 to 15 people remained at the scene, several with visible injuries, according to the Maui Police Department.
The police arrested and later released a 20-year old man on suspicion of assault, with the investigation still ongoing - but it has not been classified as discrimination.
The family is now urging police to investigate the incident as a hate crime.
Family member Joseph Headfield told Hawaii News Now: "There were three females, one of which was the ringleader.
"She got up in people's faces, said: 'We're going to beat up your boys tonight. We're going to beat up the haole boys.'"
Julie, another family member, said the alleged attackers made disturbing remarks during the horrific incident.
"Particularly our cousin-in-law who got the 13 staples, they're like: 'Oh, we got the old man'," she said.
"So they were doing it intentionally. They were looking for trouble, did it on purpose, followed, picked out a group, I guess."

Another family member, Daniel, said that despite his best efforts to remove his family members, multiple family members were "slapped, punched, kicked" in the melee.
One member of the family was left with a gash in his head after being struck by a chair, the family said.
Daniel said: "None of us, none of the 30 people that were there, has had this happen before.
"Two of us were sent to the hospital and multiple others were treated at the scene by EMTs."
The incident has now overshadowed their luxury trip, the family revealed.
"He was really badly hurt," Julie said, describing the man who suffered the head injury. "He was told to stay out of the sun. Everything he came to Hawaii to do, he can't do."
Alana Pico, a Maui police spokeswoman, told SFGATE: "We recognize the significant impact this incident has had on those involved and remain committed to conducting a thorough, fair, and impartial investigation.
"Detectives have contacted and interviewed the involved parties, and the investigation continues as additional information is gathered and reviewed."
Steven Rose, the managing director at the CoralTree Residence Collection, said the resort was cooperating with law enforcement.
Mr Rose said: "The safety and well-being of our guests, residents, and team members remains our highest priority.
"We take incidents of this nature very seriously and are focused on supporting those impacted."
