أوقف فريق الشباب سلسلة انتصارات نظيره النجمة بعدما خرج معه بنتيجة التعادل (33/‏33)، في المباراة التي جمعتهما مساء الخميس في ختام الجولة 17 لدوري خالد بن حمد لكرة اليد. وانتهى الشوط الأول بتقدم الشباب (15/‏17)، وبذلك رفع الماروني رصيده إلى (43 نقطة) في المركز الثاني وبفارق بينما النجمة صار رصيده (47 نقطة) في صدارة الترتيب. وبات ترتيب الفرق بعد انتهاء الجولة كالآتي: النجمة 47 نقطة، الشباب 43 نقطة، الأهلي 41 نقطة، باربار 34 نقطة، التضامن 30 نقطة، الدير 29 نقطة، توبلي 28 نقطة، الاتحاد 27 نقطة، الاتفاق 24 نقطة، سماهيج 19 نقطة وأخيرا البحرين برصيد 18 نقطة.
