Alan Brazil, the 66-year-old talkSPORT presenter and former Scottish football star, has revealed he is recuperating following what he described as a "life-saving" operation.
The Glasgow-born broadcaster, who has been a fixture on the station's Breakfast Show for over a quarter of a century, had been noticeably absent from his regular presenting duties for several weeks.
Brazil, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career at clubs including Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, took to X to update concerned listeners about his health situation.
The popular host confirmed he had undergone a major medical procedure and expressed his gratitude to those who treated him.
In his statement on X, Brazil wrote: "Some of you will have noticed that I've not been around.
"I recently had a life-saving operation and I'm deeply grateful to the brilliant medical team who have looked after me."
The veteran broadcaster indicated his return to the airwaves would not be immediate.

"It will be some time yet before I'm fully back to myself and for now I am focused on my recovery in private," he added.
The 66-year-old also thanked his loved ones, writing: "Thank you to my family and those close to me who've been supporting me / putting up with me! I'll see you all soon. AL."
Brazil's colleagues at talkSPORT have rallied around him following the announcement.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor responded to the news by saying: "Great news. I can't wait for him to come back. Legend."
Jeff Stelling, another presenter at the station, remarked it was "great to hear from Big Al" after his health scare.
During Brazil's absence from the airwaves, Agbonlahor and Shebahn Aherne have been filling in on his regular Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning slots.
