African migrants are plotting a second invasion of Ceuta, with an imminent date set for a second wave of mass border crossings.

Speaking to GB News, Director of the Border Security and Immigration Centre at the Heritage Foundation, Lora Ries, warned the threat “absolutely needs to be a concern” for the UK.

Last week, 72,000 migrants stormed the exclave on the African mainland as scores of mostly young men scrambled over border protections and charged through Ceuta’s streets.

At least 2,500 migrants remain at large in the city after the Spanish army were deployed to restore order and return them to Morocco.

At least 88 people are known to have died in the carnage, sparking outrage in Europe with fears the invaders could make their way into the UK and the rest of Europe.

As authorities struggle to return the remaining migrants, fresh research has revealed a second huge wave could be imminent.

On August 1, a Facebook group posted to its 108,000 members a call to launch a new incursion into Spain.

A date was set for August 15, according to Alicante-based intelligence firm Golden Owl.

Investigators estimate there could be as many as 478,000 people directly reached by the campaign and 1.03million members in loosely connected public groups, per The Olive Press.

“It absolutely needs to be a concern because it's been going on for years, not just in the UK but throughout Europe,” Ms Reis told The People’s Channel.

“They'll go to London, they'll go to other cities in Europe. And this mass migration will continue. It's an invasion.

“What happened in Ceuta late last week was shocking to the world. It was bad optics. It was a lot of people all at once.

“But frankly, the UK and other countries have been living with that, albeit in smaller numbers each day, each week and suffering the consequences from it.”

“If Spain really wants to stop this, they need to not only withdraw the amnesty offer, but secure their borders and return everybody,” the immigration expert insisted.

In recent months, Spain's Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has introduced a policy to grant legal status to undocumented migrants already living in the country.

Around 1.2million people applied for the programme upon its launch, sparking international criticism.

Mr Sanchez blamed people smuggling gangs for the Ceuta invasion, accusing them of exploiting a recent Spanish Supreme Court ruling preventing summary returns of migrants intercepted in open water.

Many of the migrants who broke into the city were able to swim around the border fence separating it from the Moroccan mainland.

A floating sea barrier has now been installed, which officials say will allow migrants intercepted at sea to be returned despite the Supreme Court ruling.

However, the leader of Spain’s anti-migration Vox Party, Santiago Abascal, said the provisions were inadequate and warned of another wave.
