The warning is part of the police’s strategic priority of promoting “smart road safety”, with authorities stressing that such actions could lead to severe accidents and place both drivers and other road users at risk. Police said these behaviours constitute clear violations of traffic laws and pose a direct threat to public safety, urging motorists to act responsibly and adhere to safe driving practices at all times. They added that road safety is a shared responsibility and that the pursuit of online fame does not justify putting lives in danger. Authorities also stressed they would take firm legal action against offenders. Under UAE traffic regulations, the penalty for endangering the lives of others includes a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points on the driver’s licence and vehicle impoundment for 60 days. Motorists must also pay Dh50,000 to release the impounded vehicle.
