düzenlenen AB-Ermenistan Zirvesi'nin ardından yapılan basın toplantısında konuştu. "Anlaşma anlaşmadır ve biz bir anlaşmaya vardık." diyen von der Leyen, ABD ile yapılan anlaşmanın özünde refah, ortak kurallar ve güvenilirlik olduğunu dile getirdi. Von der Leyen, bu aşamada her iki tarafın da sahip olduğu farklı demokratik prosedürlere saygı göstererek söz konusu anlaşmayı uygulaması gerektiğine işaret etti. AB tarafının kalan gümrük taahhütlerinin uygulanmasının son aşamalarında olduğuna dikkati çeken von der Leyen, ABD tarafının da üzerinde uzlaşılan bazı taahhütleri tamamlamadığını söyledi. Von der Leyen, "Dolayısıyla bu anlaşmadan karşılıklı kazanç, işbirliği ve güvenilirlik istiyoruz. Her türlü senaryoya hazırız." dedi. ABD Başkanı Donald Trump, cuma günü ticaret anlaşmasına uymadığı gerekçesiyle AB menşeli otomobil ve kamyonlara uygulanan gümrük vergisi oranının yüzde 25'e çıkarılacağını duyurmuştu. AB ile ABD arasında ticaret anlaşması görüşmeleri, Temmuz 2025'te İskoçya'daki Trump'a ait Turnberry golf sahasında tamamlanmıştı. Anlaşma kapsamında, AB ülkeleri ABD ürünlerine gümrük tarifesi uygulamamayı kabul etmiş, buna karşılık ABD'nin AB ürünlerine yüzde 15 oranında tarife uygulayacağı açıklanmıştı.
