اكتشف الباحثون في جامعة نيويورك أبوظبي وجود موجات جديدة واسعة النطاق في جوف الشمس، مدفوعة بمجالات مغناطيسية تحت السطح، تمثّل هذه الموجات وسيلة لدراسة ظواهر شمسية خفية، مما يمنح العلماء أداة جديدة لدراسة كيفية تكوّن المجال المغناطيسي للشمس وتطوره عبر الزمن. يُعتبر باطن الشمس محيطاً ديناميكياً من الغاز الساخن المشحون كهربائياً، يتأثر بالدوران والقوى المغناطيسية، تحفّز هذه المجالات المغناطيسية الدورة الشمسية والبقع الشمسية والنافورات القوية التي تتسبب في تعطّل الأقمار الصناعية والاتصالات وشبكات الطاقة على الأرض ولطالما كانت التفاعلات المغناطيسية في أعماق الشمس خفية على العلماء. في الدراسة الجديدة
