The investigation began after Del Rio officers were dispatched Thursday afternoon to Val Verde Regional Medical Center after receiving a report about a woman suffering multiple stab wounds, the police department said in a news release. Officers learned that an altercation had occurred between the victim and suspects at a residence on East 10th Street. The fight was captured on video and shows Peña arriving at Faz’s home in a black pickup truck, according to a probable cause affidavit. Shortly afterward, the two sisters arrive in a black Chrysler, exit, and confront Peña, the document states. In the footage, Amaya Diaz is seen exiting the Chrysler and approaching the victim “with an object believed to be a knife in her right hand,” the affidavit states. Police said that Amaya Diaz and the victim got into an altercation, and Amaya Diaz is seen striking Peña “in the back, where blood can be observed on the back of her shirt.” Kitty Diaz “begins physically assaulting” Peña as Faz allegedly joins in, the affidavit says. The alleged attack was eventually broken up, police said, and the suspects left the area. All three were later arrested and taken to the Del Rio Police Department for booking.
