Teenage boy is arrested on suspicion of murder after man in his 20s stabbed in an alleyway

Published: 14:43, 24 May 2026 | Updated: 14:51, 24 May 2026 A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 20s was stabbed in an alleyway in Reading.  Thames Valley Police were called to the scene in Lower Earley on Saturday at approximately 4.23pm after receiving multiple reports that a man had been attacked.  The force attended with other medical professionals and the victim was brought to hospital, where he later died. The man's next of kin have been informed of his death, but formal identification and post-mortem processes have not yet been completed.  A murder investigation has since been launched and a teenage boy from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.  A scene watch is in place in the alleyway, which is between Cutbush Lane and Kensington Close, and through to the alley between Cutbush Lane and Gypsy Lane. Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the force's Major Crime Unit, said their thoughts are with 'the man's next of kin following his death'. He said: 'We understand this murder will be of concern to the community, but we do not believe there is any threat to the wider public.
