Katliamda hayatını kaybedenler arasında Filistin kökenlilerin de bulunduğunu belirten katılımcılar, katliamın yaşandığı bölgeye çiçek bırakarak, Suriye ve Filistin bayrakları açtı. AA muhabirine konuşan mahalle sakinlerinden Ümmü Muhammed, yaşadığı duyguyu “tarifi mümkün olmayan bir sevinç” olarak nitelendirerek, “Bütün dünya bizi duysun, onu burada istiyoruz, suçunu işlediği yerde yargılansın.” dedi. Ümmü Muhammed, “Özgürleşmeye sevindik ama bu sevinç daha büyük, alışılmışın dışınsa bir sevinç. Sevincimi paylaşmak ve ifade etmek için koşarak katliamın yapıldığı yere geldim.” diye konuştu. Yaşadıkları sevincin “kurtuluş sevincinden bile büyük” olduğunu ifade eden bir diğer mahalle sakini Ümmü Bilal ise, sabahın erken saatlerinden itibaren bölgede bulunduklarını ve duygularını ifade etmekte zorlandığını söyledi. Ümmü Bilal, “Sabahın erken saatlerinden beri buradayız. Elimizden bir şey gelse yaparız. Duygularımızı ifade etmekte zorlanıyoruz. İnşallah Allah ondan intikam alır. Allah her zalimden intikamını alsın.” şeklinde konuştu. Şam kırsalındaki Felita köyünden Yusuf Asakir de adalet beklentisini dile getirerek, halka karşı suç işleyen herkesin hesap vermesi gerektiğini vurguladı. Asakir, "Zalimi affetmek, şehitlerin kanına ihanettir. Toprağın altına gömülen bu şehitler, bizim yürüdüğümüz yolu aydınlattı. Allah’ın bizi zafere ulaştıracağından hiçbir zaman umudumuzu kesmedik." ifadelerini kullandı. Emced ve arkadaşlarının bu bölgede yaşadıklarını ve burayı suç faaliyetleri için bir merkeze çevirdiklerini ifade eden Asakir, "Yemin ederim ki, sevinçten titriyorum. Onu görmeyi çok istiyorum ama tepkimin ne olacağını bilmiyorum, belki de kendimi tutamam." dedi. Mahalledeki molozların devrik rejim unsurlarının katliamlarını gizlemek için getirildiğini söyleyen Asakir sözlerine şöyle devam etti: "Burada tanık olduğumuz katliamlar, buzdolabı katliamları kadar korkunçtu. Cesetlerin üzerine otomobil lastikleri konulup yakıldığını gördüm. Dört ya da beş ceset bir arada yakılıyordu. Kadınların da böyle yakıldığına şahit oldum. Yüzlerce hatta binlerce kurbandan bahsediyoruz. Rejimin çöküşünden iki ay önce küçük araçlarla yüzlerce çuval dolusu şehit kalıntısını buradan taşıdılar." Asakir, duvarlardaki siyahlıkların, şehitlerin yakıldığı lastiklerin izleri olduğunu, kurbanların bazılarının öldürüldükten sonra bazılarının ise canlıyken yakıldığını ayrıca vurguladı. Devrik lider Beşşar Esed rejim güçlerinin 16 Nisan 2013'te başkent Şam'ın güneyindeki Tadamun Mahallesi'nde en az 41 sivili öldürdüğüne ilişkin görüntüler, ilk kez 2022'de ortaya çıkmıştı. Bazı uluslararası basın yayın organları ile sosyal medyada yer alan görüntülerde, yüzü açıkça görünen Esed rejiminin istihbarat görevlisi Yusuf'un, gözleri bağlı ve kelepçeli şekilde gözaltına alınan ve koşmaları söylenen sivilleri vurduğu görülmüştü. Ekim 2023'te katliamın faili Yusuf'un hala askeri üste çalıştığı ortaya çıkmış, dönemin ABD Dışişleri Bakanı Antony Blinken, aynı yıl Yusuf ve ailesine ABD'ye giriş yasağı getirildiğini duyurmuştu.
