Neighbours have been sent reeling over the appearance of gigantic wooden panels in front of a property’s living room windows. Just centimetres from the lower floor of the house in Bristol , the sturdy structure completely blocks the view to the street. Bristol City Council have confirmed to the M irror that the council had recently purchased the property in Lockleaze but currently has no further details about its new wall. Neighbours on the street believe the residence to be vacant, raising questions over the eccentric construction choices carried out this week. One neighbour said: “When I initially saw the fence I thought just the same as everyone else who’s seen if really – I mean what were they thinking? “It totally blocks the living room window of any light and view. Someone described it as daylight robbery, which did make me laugh!" The neighbour added: “The house is currently empty. A fence was then put up in front of the window as there’s a gap between the house and driveway that maybe a small child could fall down but it blocks the window. “All it really needed was some rails and the natural light would still enter the house. The only reason I can think of is there is a gap between the house and parking spot that a child could fall between but surely a wire fence would stop that possibility and still let natural light through the window.” Another neighbour chimed in on the speculation: “This job was probably some computer job created, the worrying thing is the person who picked up the job sheet just did it without asking any questions or using any common sense to think that’s not right.” A local worker said the drop would be considered a hazard with a lot more pressure on housing providers to prevent hazards like the fall from this wall. Others have taken to social media to mock the fence. One wrote: “Oh my goodness that is beyond stupid!” Another added: “This is ridiculous, surely the person who put that up must have questioned it? They must have some common sense!” A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said: "officers are working to understand the details around the installation of the fence and we will share an update as soon as we can."
