açıklamaya göre Avn, başkent Beyrut'taki Baabde Sarayı'nda eski Bakan Muhammed Şakir başkanlığındaki bir heyeti kabul etti. Avn, ABD arabuluculuğunda İsrail ile doğrudan müzakerelere ve İsrail'in Lübnan'da düzenlediği saldırılara ilişkin açıklamalarda bulundu. İsrail ile müzakerelerin başlatılması için ABD tarafından bir tarih belirlenmesini beklediklerini belirten Avn, "Lübnan dosyası bugün ABD Başkanı'nın masasında. Bu, ülkemizi güvenlik ve barışa ulaştırmak için değerlendirmemiz gereken bir fırsattır." ifadesini kullandı. Avn, ateşkes ilan edilmesine rağmen İsrail'in saldırılarına devam etmesinin kabul edilemez olduğunu dile getirdi.
