Brazil school shooter, 13, kills staff as pupils climb 20ft wall to escape bullets

A 13-year-old boy shot two female staff members dead in a horror school shooting in Brazil , which also left several others wounded. Panicked students were seen fleeing into a classroom while others climbed over a 20ft wall as gunshots rang out at the public school Instituto Sao Jose in Rio Branco. The teen suspect, who according to the Acre government admitted to the attack, has since been arrested by police . It was not immediately clear whether he was a current or former pupil at the school. The two female staff members were pronounced dead at the scene. A third staff member and a student suffered injuries in the shooting and were rushed to hospital . Eduardo Rodrigues Cavalcante, a receptionist at a nearby hotel, said he could see a number of students trying to jump over a wall in between the two buildings. "The wall is six meters (20ft) high, and only one person managed to jump over and take refuge here in the hotel," he said. "The other people were left on the school roof trying to escape." The suspect's legal guardian, who reportedly owned the firearm allegedly used in the attack, was also arrested, authorities said. Governor Mailza Assis said: "The state expresses deep solidarity with the victims' families, the school community of Instituto Sao Jose and all education professionals affected by this incident."
