Bakan Uraloğlu, tünelin Asya ve Avrupa kıtalarını deniz tabanının altından birleştiren çift katlı ilk ve tek kara yolu tüneli olduğuna dikkati çekti. Tünelin 5 kilometre uzunluğa sahip olduğunu, İstanbul'da araç trafiğinin en yoğun olduğu Kazlıçeşme-Göztepe Hattı'nda yaklaşım yollarıyla beraber toplam 14,6 kilometrelik bir güzergahta 9 yılı aşkın bir süredir hizmet vermeye devam ettiğini vurgulayan Uraloğlu, şunları kaydetti: "Tünel, Göztepe-Bakırköy Hattı'nı yaklaşık 10 kilometre kısaltarak, bu güzergah için ortalama 100 dakikaya ulaşan seyahat süresini 15 dakikaya kadar düşürüyor. Sürücülerimize hızlı, konforlu ve öngörülebilir bir ulaşım imkanı sunuyoruz. Avrasya Tüneli'ni açıldığı günden bu yana 9,5 milyon farklı plakalı araç tam 180 milyon kez kullandı. Türkiye İstatistik Kurumunun 2026 verilerine göre trafiğe kayıtlı 34 milyon 23 bin 986 taşıt olduğu göz önünde bulundurulduğunda bu taşıtların neredeyse 4'te 1'i Avrasya Tüneli'ni kullandı." Uraloğlu, 9 yıllık işletme sürecinde kullanıcıların toplam 250 milyon saat zaman tasarrufu elde ettiğini, 304 bin ton yakıt tasarrufu sağlandığını belirtti. Tünelle 139 bin ton emisyon azalımı sağlandığını ve bunun yaklaşık 5,5 milyon ağacın yıllık karbon tutma kapasitesine eşdeğer olduğunu vurgulayan Uraloğlu, Avrasya Tüneli'nin, Ekonomik Kalkınma ve İş Birliği Teşkilatı (OECD) tarafından teknik çerçevesi oluşturulan, açık ve kapsayıcı, şeffaf, Paris İklim Anlaşması'nın hedeflerini destekleyen ve finansal, sosyal, çevresel açıdan sürdürülebilir altyapı yatırımlarına verilen Mavi Nokta Ağı kapsamında sertifikasyon sürecini başarıyla tamamlayan dünyadaki ilk proje olduğunun altını çizdi. Uraloğlu, projenin ayrıca enerji tasarrufu, geri dönüşüm, sürdürülebilirlik gibi temel başlıklarda topladığı puanlarla LEED Gold Sertifikası almaya hak kazandığına işaret ederek, inşaat hem de işletme döneminde, projenin olası çevresel ve sosyal etkilerinin titizlikle analiz edildiğini de bildirdi.
